Moron Asks Friend to Shoot Him So He Could Skip Work

FoxNews reports that in Pasco, WA, people are asking "What happened to faking a cough?
Sheriff's detectives in Washington state say a man had his friend shoot him in the shoulder so he wouldn't have to go to work.
When he first spoke with deputies, Daniel Kuch told them he'd been the victim of a drive-by shooting while he was jogging Thursday.
But detectives told KONA radio that Kuch later acknowledged that he asked his friend to shoot him so he could get some time off work and avoid a drug test.
The friend has been arrested for investigation of reckless endangerment. Kuch is expected to be charged with false reporting.
Detectives declined to say where Kuch works, or whether he still has a job. It wasn't known if he had obtained a lawyer."

"Nut" of the day...

From our friends at the BBC.

"Man hurt using gun to change [tire]

A US man has injured himself in both legs after attempting to loosen a stiff wheel-nut by blasting it with his gun.
The 66-year-old man from Washington state was repairing his car outside his home when the accident took place.
Shooting at the wheel from arm's length with his 12-gauge shotgun, he was peppered with buckshot and debris.
The man - whom police say was on his own and not intoxicated - was taken to hospital with severe, but not life-threatening, injuries.
The man, from South Kitsap, 10 miles (16km) southwest of Seattle, had been repairing his Lincoln Continental for two weeks, according to the police, and had removed all but one of the nuts on the right rear wheel.
Frustrated by the one remaining nut which refused to budge, he resorted to fire power in an effort to shift it.
"He's bound and determined to get that lug nut off," said Deputy Scott Wilson, a spokesman from the sheriff's office.
He sustained injuries from his feet to the middle of his abdomen, with some pellets reaching as high as his chin, police said."

Ideal Home For An Aspiring James Bond Villain

I ran across this story while on BBC.com. A missile base "is the ideal home for an aspiring James Bond villain, or an anxious survivalist seeking a refuge that can withstand an atomic bomb. A former US intercontinental ballistic missile base - with a network of underground tunnels and silos, but no nuclear warheads - is on sale on eBay for $1.5m. Located in a remote corner of Washington state and still ringed by its original barbed-wire-topped fence, the 56-acre site is being marketed as a "gorgeous" property and potential resort.
Bari Hotchkiss bought the former base 10 years ago from owners who obtained the property in the 1970s, after the US government deemed obsolete the Titan missiles it was built to launch... Mr Hotchkiss says there are 18 former Titan bases, most of which were sold off.
But his base, he says, is one of the best preserved.
"Most of those former bases are much much smaller, and most all of them have water problems with water leaking in them. So they're filled with water or so wet there is terrible rust, and ours is dry. Portions of our missile base look like it's built last year," he said.
Much of the Cold War era technology was stripped from the site by the military, and to make much of the underground network useable would require several million dollars...

A number of other former US missile bases are also on the market.
The website missilebases.com describes the buildings as "castles of the 20th century". "

Here is the actual e-bay listing with descriptions and pictures. So far, there are no bids. If you're interested, then you need to know the property will be re-listed until sold, leased or a joint venture deal [is] signed." Seller will take a down payment of $300,000 on the $1.5 million sale price.
